Cundinamarca lidera la reducción de accidentes viales en Colombia

Un reciente informe del Observatorio de la Agencia Nacional de Seguridad Vial ha destacado que Cundinamarca ha logrado la mayor reducción de víctimas fatales por accidentes de tránsito en todo el país.

Según los datos presentados, entre enero y julio de 2024, se registraron 342 fallecimientos en las carreteras de Cundinamarca, lo que supone una disminución del 11,2% en comparación con las 385 víctimas mortales reportadas en el mismo periodo del año anterior. Esta reducción de 43 vidas salvadas es un logro significativo en la lucha por mejorar la seguridad vial en la región.

Sin embargo, a pesar de esta disminución, los motociclistas continúan siendo el grupo más vulnerable, representando el 52% del total de fallecidos en el departamento. Aun así, este grupo registró la mayor disminución en el número de víctimas, con 26 muertes menos en comparación con el mismo periodo de 2023.

Los peatones y ciclistas también figuran como actores clave en este análisis, representando el 23,7% y el 9,6% de las víctimas, respectivamente. Estos datos subrayan la importancia de intensificar las campañas de educación y prevención para estos grupos en particular.

Diego Armando Jiménez, secretario de Transporte y Movilidad de Cundinamarca, se pronunció sobre esta alentadora disminución en los accidentes, reafirmando el compromiso del departamento con la seguridad vial.

El informe también destaca que el 55,6% de las muertes ocurrieron en zonas rurales y que los fines de semana, especialmente los sábados y domingos, concentraron el 43,3% de los fallecimientos. En cuanto a la distribución por género, los hombres representan el 78,9% de las víctimas fatales, mientras que las mujeres constituyen el 21,1%.
